Burnout Nearly Broke Me
That's Why I Built Discover Opportunities
For most of my life, I thought the key to success was being the most valuable employee in the room.I said yes to everything. Worked late, weekends, holidays. Carried the weight of entire teams. Always proving, performing, pushing.
And I was good at it, until I broke. Not once. Not twice. Three times.
The Moment Everything Changed
In the middle of the chaos, my company brought in an executive coach. I didn’t know it then, but that moment, that light blub moment, actually changed everything.
For the first time, I realised:
I didn’t have to keep doing this.
I didn’t have to keep sacrificing my health for my work.
I didn’t need to stay stuck in the cycle.
I saw what support could feel like. I saw that reflection of myself through someone else’s eyes. And I knew I had to become the person I never had for myself and be that for others. I also started creating defined lists of and affirmations of what I am and what I am not, as a method to remind myself and keep myself in check. Change happens but it does take work, working at it and habits all need to be reinforced.
Discover Opportunities Was Born
Today, Discover Opportunities is my answer to burnout. It’s the support system I wish I had, but didn't realise I needed it at the time, or was willing to accept I needed.
We help professionals, executives, and business owners who are tired of dragging themselves through each day. People who’ve lost sight of who they really are. People whose “success” has come at the cost of their well-being.
We don’t do fluff. We don’t do buzzwords like work life balance that might not really exist.
We focus on real change, built on getting clarity, confidence, and improving self-respect.
The D.O. Model: Past, Present, Future
Our work is grounded in the D.O. Model, a powerful process that looks at:
The Past You - who you became to survive in your role and the need to succeed, but is the past holding you back? Or do you focus on what you have actually accomplished including the toolkit you built up over the years.
The Present You — where you’re stuck, what you’re carrying, how you speak to yourself. Are you too focused on where you want to be to your detriment instead of being present and listening to what you need today!
The Future You — who you’re ready to become, but also open to change and be adaptable to whatever journey is ahead.
Whether it's 1:1 coaching, team sessions, or culture change in organisations, the goal is the same:
To help people communicate better, do more of what lights them up, and stop wearing themselves down just to get through the day.
